Indeed, Hollywood movies are too often male-centric. It’s true.
First, let’s understand what I’m not saying when I make this assertion. I’m not saying that movies that happen to fail the above test are, necessarily, sexist or misogynist or anti-woman. What I am saying is that these films that fail the test (and, actually, I agree that the test is a fair one because it focuses not only on the number of women characters but also how they are represented and how they interact with one another on screen) are male-centered. And it’s not an unintelligent question to ask, “Why is this so?”
